Look busy - do nothing.
So here is my first blog for all the guys who usually go to office for work ( Will share a separate blog for remote workers).
Hello guys!
A very important problem which we all face. Some people are really good at it and some are not. I am talking about ‘Pretending’ what you are not.
Recently I faced this ‘Pretending’ problem in my office while I was sitting at my desk and had no work. I thought and tried some techniques which I will share with you guys. I will be sharing more techniques with you over email too (if you subscribe).
Carry a notebook and pen wherever you go 📝. This is the classic way to look busy and everyone else thinks that you are up-to something. (6.5/10)
Screen Stare-Down 👨💻. You know that intense gaze at your computer screen? It’s not just a black document ; it’s your masterpiece in the making. Just nod your head and throw an occasional ‘Hmm’. Remember, the more cryptic your screen content, the better! (8.5/10)
Coffee trick ☕. There is some direct proportionality which has been established within my office (i don’t know how), which is FOCUS x Coffee. So just grab a coffee and place it on your desk to look very focused like you are solving something very critical. (5/10)
Mysterious phone call 📱. Excuse yourself from the desk, go to a remote corner, and start and a serious conversion. Speak in vague terms like ‘Project’, ‘Deliverable’ and ‘Deadline’ etc. (7/10)
Be vague about your work. If someone asks you what you're working on, give them a vague answer that doesn't really say anything. This is a bit tricky and you have to play with your expressions. This will make it seem like you're working on something very important/top-secret. (4/10)
Remember, looking busy while doing nothing is an art form perfected by many office pros like jeff bezos, elon musk and you.
Just remember to be subtle with your techniques. If you're too obvious, people will start to suspect that you're not really working. And if you get caught, you'll just look like a slacker. Here are some additional tips to keep in mind:
Don't overdo it. If you're constantly looking busy, people will start to wonder what you're hiding.
Be aware of your surroundings. Make sure you're not in a place where someone can easily catch you not working.
Don't take it too seriously. Remember, this is all in good fun. Don't get so caught up in looking busy that you forget to enjoy yourself.
As you have already seen the rating against each technique, I have used the very famous SOLO framework to rate each technique.
- Simplicity : How easy is it to execute.
- Originality : Is the technique unique and creative.
- Longevity : For how long we can execute it.
- Observability : How noticeable or observable the technique is.
Share your techniques (i know that you are already doing this at your office) and ratings in the comments. So I can add more in my list and share HOLY TECHNIQUES with others….. 🚀🚀🚀
